The stylish collection of casual, trendy and formal wear by Next, a European apparel brand, helps women stay in vogue and keep up with the latest fashion. Inspired by popular trends across the world, the brand offers its stylish best for the upcoming autumn-winter collection.
Next has opened its first store at Forum Mall, Koramangala and retails the best of the UK fashion for each season. The women’s wear section offers casual clothing for the basic wardrobe, high-street fashion and city-tailored stylish formal wear for the career woman on the move. This includes trousers, dresses and shirts along with shoes and accessories to complement the wide range of styles.
The Next autumn-winter collection includes current fashion trends — monochromatic dresses and accessories, updated prints, checks, menswear fabrics and retro-inspired prints, to name a few. The brand also has an interesting collection of animal print and one can find renditions of feline-inspired prints in accessories, jackets and shift dresses.
“Some of the fashion stories that we have put together for the upcoming season are the rebel, fawn and salon among others. For the rebel look, grungy denim jackets have been teamed up with textured pants. It will appeal to the ‘biker chick’ among the girls. We have also tried to reflect the boy-meets-girl story through our clothes. Large printed checks in bright colours of blue, red and white or a muted palette of cream and white, have been designed for this look,” explains a spokesperson of the brand.
Shoppers have a lot to choose from — they can make a statement using animal-print clutches, for instance. Checked kilts, monochromatic wedge heels and flats, as well as skater dresses come together to create a glamourous ensemble. Patent leather detailing finds its way into skirts, shirts, sweaters and pants with subtle lining. A combination of materials and panel work create a decidedly grunge look.
Fawn is another trend which has been selected. The story incorporates classic prints such as herringbone, houndstooth, Prince of Wales checks and pin stripes, which have been incorporated into shirts, feminine skirts and formal dresses. Straight coats and sharp styling with strong edges create a unique look with feminine twists. Another trend which is a part of this collection is sculpted silhouettes, which lay emphasis on the curves of a woman. This story tells the tale of the femme fatale. Faux leather panel shifts, cinched coats and colour-blocked belts draw attention to the waist. Chic looks with pastel colours lend a soft dreamy effect to this story. Muted shades of silver and gold continue to add to the festive look. Tweed skirts with mauve tops, silver and grey muted colours are perfect for post-work dress up ensembles. The clothes this season are all about layers, red, pretty pastels, new shapes and masculine tailoring.
Likitha Kumar, first year, engineering, information science, BIT, wore a cream chiffon top and teamed it up with black formal pants and silver moon dust platform heels.
Punchline: “I love the top. It’s very feminine and both the formal pants and the shirt are comfortable. What I like about the ensemble is its fit. It suits my body and taste and can be worn for a formal occasion and even to work,”
Sushmita, second year, BCom, Mount Carmel College, went for a completely formal look. She wore a sleeveless hyena animal print top and threw on a black tailored jacket. She teamed it with mixed fabric slim-fit colour block pants. A pair of silver peep-toe pumps added to the look.
Punchline: “It has a very contemporary and chic appeal. The jacket fits perfectly and the sleeveless top can be teamed with a fitted skirt or a pair of denims. This is the first time I have tried a complete formal look.”
Anjali Lamichaney, first year, microbiology, Oxford College of Science, wore a black and grey collarless biker jacket with leather piping, a burgundy camisole and teamed it with mixed fabric trousers. She slipped on silver strap-on pumps to complete the look.
Punchline: “The look is very chic. I would want to wear something like this to a nice get-together with friends. The jacket is the highlight of the ensemble and it adds glamour to the outfit.”
Apoorva, second year, BCom, Mount Carmel College, wore a chiffon check shirt with leather detail and a pair of denim leggings. She slipped on silver embellished shoes to complete the look.
Punchline: “It’s very stylish. What I like about the outfit is that a lot can be done with both the garments and they fit all occasions. They can be worn to the college, for a casual outing with friends and if accessorised well, to a party.”
Harshitha Raj, final year, engineering, electronics and communication, BIT, wore a houndstooth print formal dress and teamed it with navy cuff point shoes.
Punchline: “It’s an elegant dress and I really love the colour and the way it fits. Though formal, it can be paired with elegant jewellery and a bright pair of shoes. It can be worn to a cocktail party or a casual get-together.”
