Edmonds Beauty: My monthly favorites
These last couple of months, I have been thinking a lot about my writing career. While going to school full time, getting ready to graduate this quarter and having life be nothing but chaos right now, I thought I would try something new. Each month I am going to do monthly favorites! From makeup, hair, skin and nails- I’ve got you covered!
For my makeup, I have been loving dark lips. They scream fall and are just so chic. I have been using Mac products like no other. I love the colors: Russian Red, Dubonnet, Diva and Rebel, and seriously, these are amazing. With high, pixilated lipsticks, you have to pamper your lips and get them ready. That way, you get the best results on your lips when they have some color on them. For that, I have been using Christian Dior’s Crème de Rose Lip Balm. Let me just say that it is worth every single penny. When the temperature changes and your body is dehydrated, your lips get chapped more than ever. I put this guy on before I go to sleep and right after I wash my face and brush my teeth — it is my holy grail of lip products!
I was looking for a new mascara and I hesitantly picked up Lorac’s Cobra Mascara — honestly, all I have to say is, my goodness! This makes my lashes look fake. I have been using it every day this month and it definitely is something that is going to be in my everyday routine.
My favorite for hair is something that I have been looking forward to for a long time — It’s a 10 Miracle Leave-In Product. I bought the sample size, which was still pricey for a little guy but it’s a product that is all in one! I can see such a difference when I use it and I highly recommend it. For shampoo I picked up Redken’s Body Full Shampoo and Conditioner, which is great because it keeps my hair full and luscious! When buying the two Redken products at Ulta, I got the third one free and I chose the Diamond Oil Deep Facets Mask, which is so underrated! I also use Macadamia Natural Oil Healing Oil Spray which is amazing! The combination can be heavy, however; it all depends on what type of hair you have.
My skin has been acting up these last couple of months. Since it is getting colder out, moisturize is really everything. I first start by taking my Korres Milk Proteins Foaming Cream Cleanser, which is perfect because it doesn’t strip down my skin’s natural oils, yet it cleans, nourishes and moisturizes my face. I seriously love this stuff. I have also been trying Willa Girl Foaming Facial Wash, which is a natural brand I found at my local Target and so far, it has been nothing but a thumbs up. I then moisturize with Korres Wild Rose 24-Hour Moisturizing & Brightening Cream and gently massage it onto my skin and then let it set in.
Restless days and nights have been having their toll on me; because of that, I have developed dark under-eye circles. To fight against that, I picked up Dr. Brant Skincare’s Do Not Age with Dr. Brandt Triple Peptide Eye Cream. You guys, this is a little pricey. However, I have yet to make a dent in my supply, and I have been using it every night for the past month and see results. It’s worth it.
Most people don’t know where to start when it comes to their skin. I recommend Nadina Kahlil of Ombu Salon and Spa in downtown Edmonds. She gives amazing facials, massages and waxes. She talks to you about your skin and comes up with a solution that is best for you. She uses natural and organic products to soothe the skin instead of irritate it even more. Whether it’s acne, scars or lack of moisture, leave it to her and she’ll find a solution.
Remember that your body is also very important alongside your face. For body wash, I have been using Gud Vanilla Flame Natural Body Wash and this stuff seriously smells like fall in a bottle! It’s perfect because it has a blend of natural oils, vanilla and rice milk, to keep my skin nice and soft. After that, I like to follow up and use a body scrub from Tree Hut Shea Sugar Body Scrub Brazilian Nut. I use it on my legs and my arms and seriously, I am in shock as to how well this product works. The last and final step I do is to moisturize, of course. My skin has been really dry and I have extremely sensitive skin as well, so it is really difficult to find a moisturizer that works and doesn’t leave me itching. I talked to my doctor and he recommended Eucerin Intensive Repair Very Dry Skin Lotion. Granted, you do have to seriously rub it into your skin and it takes awhile to absorb, but this, hands down, does the job. Best thing about it is, you can pretty much find it anywhere, from drugstore to grocery store. I just put on some lotion before going to bed; that way, I wake up to the softest skin possible. For my nails, I have been in love with the color Wicked from Essie, which is a rick, dark, wine color. It is absolutely perfect for the fall.
And of course, it seems as though I am one of the many girls who love pumpkin-flavored things! Don’t worry, though, I promise it’s not a Pumpkin Spice Latte or Frappuccino. What kind of article would this be if I didn’t talk about my October food! I am completely in love with the pumpkin macaroons, pumpkin cheesecake and of course, pumpkin pancake mix, all of which can be found at Trader Joe’s.
Fall is just so special. It’s not just about the weather, the fashion or the food — there is just something so romantic, mysterious and dreamy that lingers in the crisp air. No matter what season, trend or color is in – if you don’t have confidence, you can’t pull anything off. Again, these are my favorites for this month; let me know what yours are in the comments section. Happy fall everybody.
